Cuesta wins Rabobank men's basketball championship
The Cuesta College Cougars defeated the College of the Sequoias 74-70 Sunday night in the Championship fo the Annual Rabobank men's college basketball tournament in San Luis Obispo.
Roger Guardia scored 35 points to lead the Cougars to the title over the No. 4 ranked team in the state. Guardia was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Xavier Mylleaille tossed in 13 points to help pace the Cuesta attack.
The Cougars improved to 3-0 on the season with the win.
Santa Maria's 13th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run
The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department invites runners of all ages to the 13th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run taking place on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Hagerman Sports Complex, 3300 Skyway Drive. Teens and adults can test their stamina before the big feast on the 2.5-mile course. Shorter distances will also be available for boys and girls ages 7-12. The first race gets underway at 9 a.m. Pre-registrations will be accepted through Wednesday, Nov. 18. The cost is $10 per participant, which includes an event T-shirt. Awards will be given to first and second place finishers in each division.

Santa Maria alumni hoops
Santa Maria High School is hosting an alumni basketabll doubleheader on Friday, Nov. 20 at the school's Wilson Gym.
The first game features the Saints' boys junior varsity and SMHS staff. The JV game tips off at 6 p.m. The second game, beginning at 7:30, is a match between the Saints' boys varsity and former players - some who played for the Saints all the way back in the 1960s - including 1999 Northern League MVP Mike Gonzales.
Admission prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students and children. The snack bar will be open featuring Marco Polo Pizza.
