The Relay For Life committee thanks our community and sponsors for joining us July 10-11 as we walked around the clock at the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life event at the Elks/Unocal Event Center.

The American Cancer Society knows the key to a world with more birthdays is preventing cancer and finding it early, when it is easiest to treat. They want to turn what we know about cancer into what we do about it so that everyone will live healthier lives.

We remembered our loved ones lost, and also all those we are fighting for, as 1,500 luminaria bags lined the track in honor, support and in memory of these beautiful people. We celebrated with more than 345 survivors at the event.

The American Cancer Society saves lives. They know every extra year of life is cause for celebration. That is especially true when you’re fighting cancer.

Relay for Life participants had the opportunity to be involved in something all 24 hours, more than $253,000 was raised and good, old-fashioned fun was had by everyone. The event was a huge success, bringing us closer to our ultimate goal — finding a cure for cancer.
