Good times at the park

I am writing in response to the "Roadside Attractions" article about Waller Park in 1963.

It is unfortunate the writer did not drive a little futher into the park that "gloomy day" in June, for she would have found two more ponds, one with a monkey Island and many more ducks.

Another attraction available at that time was "Tony's Zoo," with many wild animals native to the area, tended to by Tony Estacio, the park caretaker.

I and many other natives of this area have fond memories of Sunday barbecues and picnics at Waller Park, and we believe it was as much a gem then as it is now.
