The lost art of marbles

Recently, my niece turned 9, and I wanted to get her something fun. Asking her about various games I had fun with as a child, she commented she didn't know how to play marbles.

Ahah! The perfect gift! Fun, challenging, coordination skills.

Searching for marbles was a problem.

Walmart no longer carries them.

K Mart no longer carries them. The manager was very kind, and didn't know why they don't, but was going to look into it. Target: "No, we haven't carried them for a long time." CVS and Longs, no. Michaels, yes, the small decorative ones, but not for playing.

The saving grace is Toys R Us. They sell so many they can't keep them in stock. They were out, but expect a shipment in.

Oh, yes. There's an educational store for kids, I know they carry them. Sorry, moving, reopening at a new location soon.

I guess everyone is losing their marbles.
