Maria Elena Salinas/ column of May 8, titled “Immigrants Leave Their Mark,C was a clear indication of how far off the mark she is in her knowledge of and regard for the feelings of the average American in this country.
Following that infamous “Day Without ImmigrantsC on May 1, countless letters appear almost daily in opinion and letter pages in the newspapers that I read every day. In my opinion, a very minimal percentage of them are supportive of that day as well as of the actions of the participants. It is a reflection of how native and legal persons in the USA feel toward the onslaught of so many illegal immigrants demanding rights they have not worked for nor do they deserve.
A good share of those who participated that day insulted America by flying the Mexican flag, flying it above the American flag, shouting in Spanish, and students cutting classes to walk with the mobs were not even grateful for the education being offered to them.
I fear they have unloosed a giant of resentment due to their attitudes of entitlements and freebies that they expect 7 a giant that will only return to bite them.
