Detectives arrest Lompoc man
Santa Barbara County Sheriff/s Narcotics Detectives arrested a Lompoc man for possession of marijuana for sale at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday.
David Nissen, 27, was arrested in the 800 block of North H St., in Lompoc after deputies served him with a search warrant. According to a Sheriff/s report, deputies seized a quarter pound of marijuana, with a street value of ,1,600, as well as contraband to support the sales of marijuana. Nissen was booked into the Santa Maria Jail with bail set for ,10,000.

Woman faces 5 years for false tax returns
An Arroyo Grande woman pled guilty Tuesday in a Los Angeles courtroom to filing false income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service.
Carol Lynn Leekins, 38, was indicted on Jan. 14 and arrested by agents from IRS Criminal Investigation office three days later. Leekins was charged filing a false income tax returns which listed false dependents, amounts of income and expenses, according to an IRS criminal investigator report.
According to that report, Leekins admitted knowing the information was false. The returns claim total about ,13,608. Leekins plead in United States District Court before Judge Stephen V. Wilson. Her sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 29. Leekins faces a mandatory five year prison sentence and a ,250,000 fine.

Two acres burn near Highway 101
A small fire that burned about two acres on Highway 101 and Tassajera was started by a trailer being hauled by a truck Wednesday.
California Department of Forestry received the call at about 4:32 p.m. and had the fire out within a half hour. The trailer blaze cause nearby brush on the highway to catch fire. The cause for the trailer fire is still unknown.
