People paused Sunday morning to remember the sacrifices of veterans with a ceremony at the Pismo Pier.

Army Col. Sue Ann Sandusky served as the keynote speaker at the event and the Vandenberg Air Force Base Honor Guard was scheduled to post the colors, organizers said.

The Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce hosted the ceremony, one of two they sponsor each year at the pier. The other recognizes Memorial Day.

Veterans Day will be celebrated across the United States on Wednesday.
