Teens can put their creative skills to use this summer through the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department Teen Treks Camps. Each weeklong camp which will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning Monday through Aug. 15 at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, will have a different theme.
Twelve- to 17-year-olds will spend time outdoors on nature explorations, learn the benefits of exercise with toning the body and mind, work in team environments and make new friends. Every week there will be some relaxing time off in the Youth Center game room and at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center. Some of the featured themes are Art Exploration, Youth Exploring Science, Stomp the Yard Dance, Geocaching and Shout Out DJ Lessons.
Each camp is ,90, and there will be financial assistance available though the Santa Barbara Foundation and People for Leisure and Youth. For more information, call 925-0951, Ext. 252.
