Silva-Day joins Express Employment

Carla Silva-Day has been hired as the business development specialist for the Santa Maria Express Employment Professionals office. 

Prior to joining Express, Silva-Day worked as a human resource manager and, prior to that, a director of risk management.

Her background includes employment services, human resources and Workers’ Compensation.

She just completed her certification course through the Insurance Education Association and received her Workers’ Compensation Claims Administration Certificate.

She is also currently enrolled in Cal Poly’s Society for Human Resources Management program, where she will receive a Professional in Human Resources certification when completed.

Silva-Day is involved in community relations and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, Santa Maria Human Resource Association and ASA-American Staffing Association.

Sutton named to ag leadership program

Dan Sutton of San Luis Obispo has been selected to participate in the two-year California Agricultural Leadership Program, one of the premiere agricultural leadership opportunities in the United States.

His class, the 40th selected in the program's history, was recently inaugurated in Sacramento.

Sutton is the general manager of the Pismo Oceano Vegetable Exchange, a grower-owned cooperative with its roots dating back to the 1920s.

POVE grows and ships fresh produce from California's Central Coast. Sutton oversees the day-to-day operations, including sales, marketing, accounting, safety and production.

Sutton graduated in 2001 from Cal Poly and currently serves as treasurer on the executive committee for the San Luis Obispo County Farm Bureau.
