The deadline is Monday to make reservations to attend the upcoming 87th Annual Installation & Awards Dinner, sponsored by the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce, Visitor & Convention Bureau and Heritage Oaks Bank.

Vandenberg Air Force Base will be honored at the semi-formal program Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Elks Lodge, 1309 N. Bradley Road in Santa Maria. No-host cocktails begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. For more information, call 925-2403, Ext. 817.

The event annually recognizes organizations, businesses and individuals in the Santa Maria Valley and surrounding areas who have made an economic contribution to the region.

Robert P. Hatch, president, will conduct the installation ceremonies and oversee the award presentations. "Our business base has become very diversified over the last several decades," he said. "Today companies of all types, from manufacturing to financial services to telecommunications to defense-related firms, successfully conduct their business in our region."

New board members to be installed include Jean Carmichael, executive director for the Santa Maria Valley YMCA; Peggy Greer, Santa Barbara County Education Office; George Majoue, owner of MotionZ; and Debi Testa, Testa Catering, Backdoor Bistro, Dino?s Deli and Del Taco.

Cindy McKellar is newest member of executive committee, and Randy Wise, owner of Straw Hat Pizza, will be installed as the new chairman of the board.
