Little League — Orcutt American registration

It’s time to register for the 1009 season of the Orcutt American Little League.

All children, ages five through 12, are eligible to participate.

Registration will be held at the Joe Nightingale School Cafeteria on the following dates: Thursday, Jan. 15 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 17 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Players must bring a birth certificate and two forms of proof of residency.

Tryouts will also be held at the Nightingale School on Saturdays, Jan. 24 and 31.

On Jan. 24, 11-12 year olds will have tryouts at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m., 10 year old tryouts will be held at 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. and tryouts for 8-9 year olds will be held at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.

The final tryouts, on Jan. 31, will have 11-12 year olds at 9 a.m., 10 year olds at 9:30 a.m. and 8-9 year olds at 10 a.m.

Little League — Northside Little League registration

Registration for the 2009 season of the Northside Little League continues on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Northside majors field from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The final registration will be on and Thursday, Jan. 15 at Straw Hat Pizza on North Broadway from 7 to 9 p.m.

Registration fees are $85 per player. Boys and girls with birthdates between May 1996 and April 2004 are eligible to play. Birth certificates and proof of residence are required.

Soccer — St. Joe alumni game

St. Joseph High School is hosting a boy’s alumni soccer game on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the new Jay Will Stadium. All former boys soccer players are encouraged to come out and have some fun.

Junior Golf — Kris Kringle Klassic at Rancho Maria

The annual Kris Kringle Junior Golf Klassic at Rancho Maria Golf Club will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30. The Tournament tees off at 11 a.m.

No one goes home empty-handed as every participant wins something.

The entry fee is $15 and includes green fee, lunch, range balls, trophies and prizes.

There are three age divisions for boys and two for girls.

Youth Basketball — Knights of Columbus free throw shooting contest

The Knights of Columbus from St. Louis de Montfort is hosting its annual basketball free throw shooting contest on Saturday, Jan. 24 at St. Joseph High School.

The contest is free for all children ages 10-14 and all local children are invited to come out to give it your best shot.

There will be five age-group competitions for boys and girls with the 10 winners returning to St. Joseph High on Feb. 21 for the regional competition.

Registration will run from 9-10 a.m. on the morning of the event with the free throw contests beginning immediately after registration closes.

Proof of age — preferably a birth certificate — is required at registration.
