Righetti’s Ross shares PAC-7 MVP
Righetti water polo goalie Tom Ross was awarded half of the PAC-7 League’s water polo Most Valuable Player award on Thursday, sharing the honor with Arroyo Grande’s Jesse Gillespie.
All-League honors were handed out for water polo, football and volleyball
Righetti placed three players on the first-team in water polo, with Josh Grall, Eric Tucker and Alex Johnson joining Ross; Arroyo Grande’s Mikey Benaron, Derek Lange and Eric Marsh were also first-team selections.
Eric Duarte and Matt Johnson were second-team selections for the Warriors, while Kevin Ostrin was an Honorable Mention selection.
Kyle Shaffer shared Coach of the Year honors with the Eagles’ Steve Allen.
In football, Atascadero’s Nick Tenhaeff was named the league’s MVP, while Righetti landed lineman Brian Brickey, running back Javon Davis, defensive lineman Carlos Faumuina and defensive back Matt Miller on the first team; Lompoc receiver Scott Aguilar was the Braves’ lone first-team pick, with Bo Cabalar the lone first-teamer from Arroyo Grande.
The Warriors’ Evan Ferini, Justin Rucker were second-team picks, as was Lompoc’s Bobby Collins, Saul Dominguez and Favi Vargas, along with Arroyo Grande’s Sean Brown, Christian Crichton, Jordan Murray and Daniel Morgan.
Atascadero coach Vic Cooper was named Coach of the Year.
In volleyball, Ernie Santa Cruz took Coach of the Year honors for Arroyo Grande, while Olivia Trudeau garnered MVP honors for the Eagles.
Teammates Brooke Shepard, Kaele Morrow and Kelsey Wagner were first-team sections for Arroyo Grande, while Madi Ventura and Caitlin Frazier were second-team picks, along with Nipomo’s Christina Rosales.
Righetti’s Jayne Bruno was an Honorable Mention selection.
