Cal’s Coe 42nd in men’s finals
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — California’s Michael Coe scored a 42nd-place finish in the men’s individual at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday.
Coe, the former standout at Cabrillo High, traversed the course in 30 minutes, 29, seconds, putting him in the top quarter of the 214-runner field.
The Golden Bears finished 22nd in the 31-team field, one spot ahead of Cal Poly.
The Mustangs’ best finisher was Daniel Gonia, who finished in 73rd place (30:52).
Oregon’s Galen Rupp won the men’s individual race in 29:04, leading the Ducks to the team championship.
Washington won the women’s title, with all five of their scoring runners finishing in the top 25. Texas Tech’s Sally Kipyego won the individual race.
Youth Baseball
ONLL Little League sign-ups on tap
Registration begins soon for the local Orcutt and Santa Maria 2009 youth baseball seasons.
All sign-ups will be held at the May Grisham Multi-Use room on the following dates; Monday, Dec. 1, from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m.-noon; Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m.-noon.
The cost is $85 per player and $80 for T-Ball players, There are discounts available for more than one player per family.
Children born after April 30, 1996 and before May 1, 2004 are eligible for Little League.
At the time of registration, each child is required to bring a birth certificate and three different forms for proof of residency.

SM Indians to host golf tournament
The Santa Maria Indians are hosting their annual fundraising golf tournament on Thursday, Dec. 4., at the Black Lake Golf Resort in Nipomo.
The four-person scramble features prizes for both the low gross (no handicap) and loss gross (with handicap figured in) teams.
There are also mulligans for sale and prizes for long drive and closest-to-the-pin holes.
The $100 entry fee includes green fees, golf cart, range balls and lunch.

Check in begins at 8 a.m. withg a shotgun start set for 9.
Space is limited, so pre-registering as early as possible is recommended. The entry deadline is Friday, Nov. 21.
