Kickoff time for PVHS playoff game moved up

The kickoff time for the Pioneer Valley-Oaks Christian football playoff game has been moved up to 7 p.m. Friday.

The game will be at Oaks Christian High School campus in Westlake Village. The teams will tangle in the CIF Southern Section Northwest Division quarterfinals. Oaks Christian, the Tri-Valley League champion, has a nationally-renowned football program.

Northside Little League registration

Registration for the 2009 season of the Northside Little League will begin on Thursday, Dec. 4.

Registration fees are $85 per player. Early registration on Dec. 4 will be $75. Boys and girls with birthdates between May 1996 and April 2004 are eligible to play. Birth certificates and proof of residence are required. The boundaries are north of Main and east of Broadway.

Early registration will be held at the Tunnell School cafeteria on Thursday, Dec. 4 between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 10 registration will be at the Northside majors field from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the final registration will be on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Straw Hat Pizza on North Broadway from 7 to 9 p.m.

Orcutt National LL registration

Registration begins soon for the local Orcutt and Santa Maria 2008 youth baseball seasons.

All sign-ups will be held at the May Grisham Multi-Use room on the following dates; Monday, Dec. 1, from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m.-noon; Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9 a.m.-noon.

The cost is $85 per player and $80 for T-Ball players, There are discounts available for more than one player per family.

At the time of registration, each child is required to bring a birth certificate and three different forms for proof of residency.

Santa Maria Indians Golf Tournament

The Santa Maria Indians are hosting their annual fundraising golf tournament on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Black Lake Golf Resort in Nipomo.

The four-person scramble features prizes for both the low gross (no handicap) and loss gross (with handicap figured in) teams.

There are also mulligans for sale and prizes for long drive and closest-to-the-pin holes.

The $100 entry fee includes green fees, golf cart, range balls and lunch.

It is a 4-Person Scramble, with prizes for gross and net team score. There are plenty of extras,

Check in begins at 8 a.m. withg a shotgun start set for 9.

Space is limited, so pre-registering as early as possible is recommended. The entry deadline is Friday, Nov. 21.

West Coast Xtreme Basketball clinics

The West Coast Xtreme Basketball Academy has scheduled basketball clinics for boys and girls in grades three through eight during the month of December.

All of the clinics will be held at St. Joseph High in Santa Maria. The girls clinic is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 and will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The boys clinic will be on Saturday, Dec. 13 and will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Both clinics will focus on offensive and defensive fundamentals. Coaches Ron Barba and Ed Torres will conduct the clinics.

The cost for each clinic is $50.
