Grover Beach man boasts ‘sexiest legs' on recent cruise

When Grover Beach resident Don Dunn went on a three-day cruise last month, he ended up taking the top prize in a “Sexiest Legs” contest.

That might not seem unusual, except Dunn is 80 years old, and he beat out 15 younger guys to take the title.

“How the heck does an

80-year-old guy beat out all those young guys for the sexiest legs?” he said when asked about winning the contest.

The answer might be in the fact that Dunn jogs two to three miles a day and works out on the cycles every day at the Pismo Beach Athletic Club.

He also races in the Pismo Beach Stride With the Tide 5k Fun Run, and took second place in his age group in the event in August.

Dunn and his wife, Kathy, were on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' Monarch of the Seas on a three-day cruise to Ensenada courtesy of his son, Don Dunn Jr., as an 80th birthday gift, when he entered the contest Sept. 13.

“These three girls in bikinis grabbed the legs of 15 different guys and squeezed them,” Dunn explained. “One of them even went up to my rump, but I didn't care. Heck, I'm 80 years old, what do I care about that?

“I just pulled up my shorts and showed them my legs, then I turned to the audience and said, ‘Rip it!' because I knew the audience was going to vote.”

Dunn said one of the girls held her hand over each man's head and the audience screamed and yelled for their favorites.

When all the shouting was over, a man “with bow-legs” took fourth, one with “bent legs” took third, one with “hairy legs” took second and Dunn was handed the top prize.

The victory gave Dunn more than 15 minutes of fame.

“All the girls would stop him and say, ‘Oh, it's Mr. Sexy Legs,'” his wife said.
