Memory Walk is a go for today
A rainy forecast won't interfere with the Alzheimer's Memory Walk set for 9 a.m. to noon today at Waller Park in Santa Maria, said Roy W. Allen, area coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association.
Hundreds of walkers are expected at the event near Lakeside Terrace by the big duck ponds at the park off Goodwin Road.
The rainy day plan calls for “umbrellas and raincoats,” Allen said. Forecasters say there is a 70 percent chance of rain this morning.

Paso Robles
Two dead in water pipeline accident
Two construction workers died in a Paso Robles trench when an apparent water main rupture filled the hole and washed them into a pipeline they were installing.
The men were part of a crew installing an approximately
3-foot-diameter Nacimiento Water Project pipeline in a 10-foot trench at the intersection of Niblick and South River roads on Thursday night.
Fire Chief Ken Johnson says firefighters arrived at about
9 p.m. and found the trench filled with water, apparently from a water main break.
The force of the water carried the two men into the pipe, where their bodies were found at about 11 p.m.
The names of the men haven't been disclosed.
