City looking to fill commitee seat
Santa Maria is accepting applications to fill a volunteer term on the city’s Block Grants Advisory Committee.

.shtml or at the City Clerk Office, 110 East Cook St., Room 3. The deadline is 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25.
The 15 members of the Block Grants Advisory Committee assess community needs, hold public workshops and hearings, review applications for funding, and make recommendations to the City Council for the allocation of funds under the federal Community Development Block Grant Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
Members are nominated by individual City Council members, appointed by the mayor and approved by the council. The committee meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The term is set to expire in July 2010.
Applicants should have an understanding of housing and community development needs and a knowledge of or background in providing human services to the community.
