A fire burned about a half acre of vegetation late Wednesday afternoon near southbound Highway 101 close to Palmer Road, said Capt. Eli Iskow with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Investigators were on scene following the blaze north of Los Alamos, which was reported around 5:30 p.m. and was nearly contained 20 minutes later. The cause was not immediately determined.
There was smoke over Highway 101, Iskow said, but the roadway remained open.
