Police on Sunday arrested the suspect in the theft in mid-July of a donation money jar from the counter of a Santa Maria convenience store.
Disrene Bumanglag Lopez was located on Sunday at a hotel in the 1100 block of North Broadway and arrested on suspicion of the July 18 theft and two outstanding arrest warrants, reported the Santa Maria Police Department.
Police had released surveillance video that showed a woman, reportedly identified by members of the public as Lopez, taking a jar from the counter of Santa Maria Gas in the 1600 block of North Broadway.
The jar was set out to collect donations for the family of a Santa Maria man who recently died, police said.
