MARYSVILLE - The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the 11th inning to beat the Santa Maria Valley Packers
3-2 in a semi-pro baseball game Thursday night.
Packers relief pitcher Russell Havens retired the first two batters he faced in the 11th inning, his second inning of work. Then came a walk, a single that moved the runner to third and the passed ball.
Brian Jett doubled in both runs in the fourth inning for Santa Maria (18-5). He smacked two doubles Thursday evening. Teammate Boomer Blanchard was 2-for-5.
Packers walk to win vs. Clovis Outlaws
CLOVIS - Blaine Wilson got the first of the Santa Maria Valley Packers' three hits Wednesday night.
It was a grand slam home run in the first inning.
“We had about 12 walks and six hit batters,” Packers manager Scott Nickason said after his team ran its record to 18-4 by beating the Clovis Outlaws 9-3 in a semi-pro baseball game.
The Packers won despite being out-hit 10-3. Santa Maria started a four-game series in Marysville against the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox Thursday night. The teams play again at 7 p.m. this evening.
SM Indians steal win from Rattlers
Justin Hensly stole home for the winning run in the fifth inning Wednesday night as the Santa Maria Indians beat the San Luis Obispo Rattlers 3-2 in a California Collegiate League game at Sinsheimer Park.
The Indians improved to 10-5 in the California Collegiate Leauge and 12-8 overall. The teams face off in a doubleheader that begins at 5 p.m. today at Elks Field.
Jimmy Dodos and Josh Meagher both drove in Indians runs Wednesday. Meagher was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Indians starting pitcher Jason Mitchell struck out eight and earned the win. Chris Eusebio pitched the ninth and notched a save.
Indians set Hot Stove-Hall of Fame Dinner
The Santa Maria Indians' Scoop Nunes Hot Stove & Hall of Fame Dinner and Auction is set for July 5 at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge.
The Elks Lodge is located at 1309 North Bradley Street. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., following a cocktail hour that starts at 5.
Former Indians Vernon Bebernes, Rudy Bondietti, Dick Donati, Mike Kelly, Rad Mawhinney, Bill Phillips, Vern Simas and George Vasquez, along with James “Joe Hagerman, who is on the Indians' Legends List, will be inducted.
The dinner will feature a live and silent auction. Tickets can be purchased for $30 at Simas Sporting Goods, at the Indians' doubleheader at Elks Field between 3-9 p.m. on Friday or by calling the Indians at 805-345-1872.

Football Clinic to be held at Hancock
The Central Coast Youth Football League will sponsor a Speed and Agility Clinic at Hancock College on Saturday, July 19.
The clinic will provide training for the body in order to perform with maximum speed, acceleration and agility.
Held at the Hancock football field, the clinic will be run by Elisio “Cheo” Munoz - the head athletic trainer at Hancock, and John Malownoski - assistant athletic trainer, both NATA Certified Athletic Trainers. It is being hosted by the Nipomo Titans YFL and the Orcutt YFL.
There will be three group sessions, based on age: Group A from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 7-8, Group B from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for ages 9-11 and Group C from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 12-13.
