Self-portraits created by Hancock College fine arts students are on exhibit through Wednesday in the Student Center Gallery on the Santa Maria campus.
Students in instructor John Hood’s Basic Drawing II class were assigned the task of creating full scale drawings of themselves in which their facial features were evident. The students worked through a process of idea production, considering mood, color strategies, light, logic and composition. The final drawings were created in pastel, color pencil, markers and ink.
The Student Center Gallery is inside building “G” at the south end of the student lounge area. Hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. For information, call the Fine Arts department at 922-6966, Ext. 3252.
