SPORTSWIRE - Nipomo edges RHS in tight PAC-7 duel The golf teams from Nipomo High and Righetti managed to each post totals of 394 in a PAC-7 League dual match at Rancho Maria on Monday, leaving the outcome up to the team's sixth-place golfers, as per prep rules. The Titans' top golfer, Colt Hoffman, had a round that fell short of his usual league-leading play, but his 12-over 85 proved to be the difference, edging the round of 94 posted by Warrior sixth man Jeremy Jauregui. Bobby Barajas, the reigning Northern Santa Barbara County Roundtable Male Athlete of the Week, carded a two-under 70 for the Warriors to take medalist honors, while Rory Doll led the Titans with a five-over 77. Tyler Clark and Cameron Epley followed Doll with a 78 for Nipomo, trailed by Jeff McNeill (80) and Brian Walker (81). Bret Walberg shot a 78 for Righetti, followed by Chance Sinclair (80), Cody Morse (81) and Colin Hester (85). The teams of the PAC-7 converge on Black Lake on Thursday for a league mini-tournament, hosted by the Titans. Greyhounds beat Eagles on Mountain Austin Kaiser's one-over 73 led the Atascadero High golf team to a 391-424 victory over Arroyo Grande in PAC-7 League action at Chalk Mountain on Monday. Christian Smith carded the low round for the Eagles with a 77, followed by Richard Knotts' 80 and the 85 of Matt McAustin. Jason Peters and Brent Montri each shot 76s for the Greyhounds. Lompoc feel at home vs. Templeton At La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc and playing the front nine, the Braves won their third dual match of the season, scoring a 223-248 Los Padres League victory over Templeton. Greyson Morain of the Eagles won medalist honors after shooting at 38. Brent Van Dyke led Lompoc with a 43, followed by Alex Stone (46), Brian Magann (46), Tyler Grossi (47) and Abie Luna (51). Lompoc plays today in a tri-match at the Morro Bay Golf Club with Morro Bay and Coast Union. The next LPL tournament will be on Thursday at Rancho Maria with Santa Maria serving as the host. Women's Tennis Hancock picks up set in home finale Hancock' women's tennis team scored another doubles victory from their number two team of Ashley Brady and Kacie Guggia, taking a pro set 8-6 to earn the only point against Western State Conference champion Cuesta on Monday, falling 8-1. Cuesta, ranked number two in the state, swept through the singles matches all in straight sets, in the final dual team match of the season. Both teams will compete in the WSC finals this weekend at Ventura College. Youth Basketball Xtreme clinics on tap for April 19, 21 The West Coast Xtreme Basketball Academy is holding clinics for boys and girls at St. Joseph High School on Saturday and Monday, April 21. Clinics for boys and girls in the third through sixth grades will be held from 3:30 until 5 p.m. on April 19 and 5:45 to 7:15 p.m. on April 21. For players in the seventh and eighth grades, April 19's clinic runs from 5:15 until 7 pm. and April 21's clinic runs from 7:15 until 8:45 p.m. Ball handling, passing, shooting and 3-on-3 development will be the focus.
