Arroyo Grande
Cancer Prevention forum set for May 31
A panel of doctors and a dietitian will present a Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Educational Forum from 9 a.m. to noon May 31 in the Clark Center for the Performing Arts on the Arroyo Grande High School campus.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., said a spokeswoman for Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, which is hosting the forum.
Participants will learn the latest about cancer risks and prevention from urologist Dr. Craig Canfield, gastroenterologist Dr. Jeffrey Mundorf, radiologists Dr. Stephen R. Holtzman and Edward DeLeonardis, obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Randall Safarik and registered dietitian Danielle Landry.
The forum will address ways to prevent or reduce cancer risk, how to detect cancer early, what the risk factors are for various types of cancer, concerns about inherited cancer risks and risks from exposure to tobacco and environmental hazards.
Because space is limited, reservations are required and can be made by calling Roberta Alderete, the hospital's community educator, at 473-7662.
