Santa Maria Valley strawberry grower Daren Gee and DB Specialty Farms continued their Mother's Day tradition Saturday with a huge barbecue honoring the mothers who work in the fields. Some 1,500 fieldworkers were expected for a chicken barbecue luncheon at a site on Rosemary Road. Later, raffle prizes were handed out, and a Latino band provided entertainment.
