10th annual Bull Canyon Run
The 10th annual Bull Canyon Run will be held on Saturday, May 3 - kickinf off at 8 a.m. with a 5K and 10K run and walk.
Applications can be picked up at the Santa Maria Police Department, Santa Maria Rec & Parks Department or at Santa Maria City Hall. You can also register on-line at
www.bcrun.org.
The cost is $20 for adult runners and $15 for walkers and youth runners. You can register the morning of the event, but it will cost an extra $5. All participants receive a t-shirt, a medal, water, sports drinks and morning snacks (fruit).
The Bull Canyon Run is also looking for volunteers to help during the event to pass out water, medals, t-shirts, etc.
The event is presented by Stowasser Pontiac-Buick-GMC. Additional sponsors are also needed. The sponsorship deadline is April 1.

Chiquita Kids Wrestling Club
The Chiquita Kids Wrestling Club would like to invite all boys ages 8 and up to join its youth wrestling program.
Boys will learn and compete in international Freestyle and Greco Roman styles.
Practices begin on Tuesday, Feb. 19 and will be held on Tuesday and Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Righetti High School Cafeteria/Wrestling Room
Registration is being held from 5-6 p.m. on Feb. 12, 14 and 19. The club is limited to the first 45 children to sign up.
The cost is $100 for one child, $195 for two children and $275 for three or more children from the same family.
The registration fee covers the USA Wrestling membership card for tournaments, insurance and a T-shirt. There will be an additional expense for travel to tournaments on Saturdays.

Nipomo LL Annual Board Elections
The Nipomo Little League is holding elections for its 2008 Board of Directors on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The meeting will be held at the Nipomo Little League Lower Field Snack Bar with nominations at 11 a.m., elections at 11:30 a.m. and the first meeting of the new board at noon.
One Way Polo third at Winterfest
One Way Polo participated in one of the largest water polo tournaments in the state last weekend when they took part in Winterfest in Los Alamitos.
Winterfest attracts more than 200 teams from across the state.
It was the first competition for the Santa Maria-based squad. One Way Polo entered a team in the boys 14-and-under competition.
The team came in first in Bracket One to advance to the medal round.
Led by AJ Franklins's four goals, One Way defeated the Laguna Beach Breakers 15-2 in its opening game. Steven Tedsen's three goals led One Way to a 13-5 victory over San Diego Shores in its second game to qualify for the semifinals.
In the semifinals, One Way Polo dropped a close decision to eventual tournament champion Long Beach.
Despite nine saves from goalie Tommy Grall, Long Beach squeezed out a 6-5 victory in the semis.
In the third place game, Grall led One Way to a 6-5 victory over SET behind Grall's three goals.
Team members are Carson Dacus, AJ Franklin, Derek Chesnut, Colter Knight, Travis Knight, Jeremiah Morales, Devon Tomooka, Steven Tedsen and Tommy Grall.
One Way Polo's next tourney will be the Speedo Cup, March 14-16, in Irvine.
One Way Youth Polo is open to all area boys and girls, ages 7-14. Workouts are currently held at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center on Sundays from 1-3 p.m. If you are interested in playing, contact Charlie Bell at 878-1285.
