Get ready to “Shake Your Booty” and sing “That’s the Way I Like It” when KC & The Sunshine Band perform in the Samala Showroom of the Chumash Casino Resort at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24. Tickets are on sale now and range in price from $35 to $75.

KC & The Sunshine Band front man Harry Wayne Casey (KC for short) developed a unique fusion of R&B and funk, with a hint of a Latin percussion grove. The band’s hits include “Get Down Tonight” and all-time party favorites “Shake Your Booty” and “That’s the Way I Like It.”

With sales of more than 100 million records, nine Grammy nominations and three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award, according to a Dec. 17 press release from the Chumash Casino Resort, KC & The Sunshine Band was considered one of the most progressive bands when it first hit the music scene in the 1970s.

The group has played more than 100 live shows a year.

Casey broke into the music business while working as a young man in an entry level position at a record studio in his hometown of Miami.

The Sunshine Band originated when he started writing songs with bassist Richard French.

Over the years, their music went on to be featured in many motion pictures, including “Saturday Night Fever” and even “Forrest Gump,” and TV series such as “Ally McBeal” and “Desperate Housewives.”
