Cats and dogs take top PAC-7 awards

The Atascadero Greyhounds and Paso Robles Bearcats tied for the PAC-7 League football championship, and players from those teams filled out nearly all of the PAC-7's Players of the Year list.

The MVP is Atascadero's Jacob Norlock. Teammates Nick Tenhaeff and Trevor Holloway are the Offensive Back and Defensive Lineman of the Year respectively.

Paso Robles' Kai Sanpei is the Offensive Lineman of the Year. Zach Thorne of San Luis Obispo is the Defensive Back of the Year.

Fellow linemen J.R. Reynolds of Paso Robles, Steven Alurac of Righetti, and Brett Hiatt and Marcus Johnson of Atascadero join Sanpei on the First Team Offense. So do wide receivers Robert Rose of San Luis Obispo and Brett Wise of Paso Robles; tight end Sean DuBois of San Luis Obispo and fullback George Lopez of Arroyo Grande; Atascadero quarterback Steven Manier, and running back Nathan Nelson and kicker Ryan Bedell of Paso Robles.

The First Team Defense consists of linemen Trevor Marsano of Paso Robles, Trevor Holloway of Atascadero, Drew Wendler of Arroyo Grande, and Jacob Fitzsimmons of San Luis Obispo; linebackers Jack Robinett of Atascadero, Jesse Aragon of Righetti, Kenny Sugishita of Arroyo Grande and Thorne; defensive backs Masson Blow of Lompoc, Travis Davis of Paso Robles, Adam Wilson of Righetti and Jake Miller of San Luis Obispo; and San Luis Obispo punter Robbie Nadalsky.

The Second Team Offense includes linemen Josh Vasquez of Arroyo Grande, Ricky Johansen of Atascadero, Dylan Cramer of San Luis Obispo, Aaron Leach of Lompoc and Jose Lopez of Paso Robles; wide receivers Trevor Salas of Arroyo Grande and Michael Stark of Paso Robles; tight end Steven Morehart of Lompoc; fullback Josh Weferling of Paso Robles; quarterbacks Justin Level and David Schultz of Righetti and San Luis Obispo, respectively; and running backs Bryan Lewelling and Bobby Collins of Lompoc.

The Second Team Defense includes linemen Gilbert Rios of Lompoc, and Tyler Boyd, Pat Conway and Carlos Faumuina of Righetti; linebackers Jake Morehart of Lompoc, and Weston Powell, Garried Mitchell of Paso Robles and Travis Hester of Paso Robles; and defensive backs Robbie Boggs of Paso Robles, Michael Lombardi and Andrew Hernandez of Atascadero and Kwaku Farkwye of San Luis Obispo.

Jesse Gillespie and Mikey Benaron, a pair of juniors, led Arroyo Grande to the PAC-7 League water polo championship. They are the league's co-MVPs.

Teammates Eric Marsh and Derek Lange are on the All-League First Team. So are Josh Grall, Tom Ross and Eric Tucker of Righetti, Joshua Sanchez of Nipomo and Warren Thom of San Luis Obispo.

The Second Team consists of Tommy Martin and Patrick Cullen of Arroyo Grande; Karl Weit of Atascadero; Tyler Clark of Nipomo; Ryan Askew and Lucas Shaffer of Paso Robles; Alex Johnson of Righetti; and Jesse Howalt of San Luis Obispo.

Matt Diggins of Arroyo Grande, Max Zappas of Atascadero, Michael Polit of Nipomo, Grant East of Paso Robles, Eric Duarte of Righetti and Bryan Boud of San Luis Obispo made Honorable Mention.
