A 28-year-old Lompoc man charged in the home invasion robbery of an 82-year-old woman last month was charged Friday with multiple felony counts and ordered held on $480,000 bail.
A 15-year-old arrested has also been charged with multiple felony counts in the same case and will be tried as an adult, according to the prosecutor.
Jose Juan Iniges Loza was charged also with special allegations stemming from the Oct. 23 robbery in the 900 block of North Third Street.
Loza appeared for arraignment Friday before Superior Court Judge James Iwasko. The arraignment was continued until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Arraignment for the juvenile, Antonio Gonzalez Hernandez, was set for 8 a.m. Monday; he also will appear for the Tuesday hearing, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Jerald McBeth.
The defendants are not yet represented by counsel, McBeth said.
A felony complaint charges the two with nine felony counts, including first-degree home invasion robbery. Special allegations were filed against Iniges Loza accusing him of using a handgun and inflicting “great bodily harm.”
Both are charged with torturing the victim with “intent to cause cruel and extreme pain and suffering,” false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon and “unjustifiable physical pain and mental suffering.”
The suspects allegedly stole property valued at more than $400. Police said earlier that jewelry and other items were taken during the daylight robbery.
Judge Iwasko issued a standard court order to prevent Iniges Loza from contacting the victim by phone while in custody or making any calls that may affect her in any way.
