AHC to Fast Track, Term 2 registration

Registration for Allan Hancock College's Fast Track/Term 2 will take place through Oct. 24. Many classes begin Oct. 22. Day, evening and Saturday Fast Track classes will be offered at the Santa Maria campus, and the Santa Ynez Valley. These classes meet for eight weeks or less.

For classes that begin after Oct. 22, students can enroll up to the first day of class, space permitting, at any college or location during regular office hours.

For those who are registering for distance learning classes only, registration via fax or U.S. mail is also available through Oct. 24 for Fast Track/Term 2 classes.

Registration locations are Admission and Records, Building A, on the Santa Maria campus, and administration offices at the Lompoc Valley Center, One Hancock Drive.

Also register at the Vandenberg AFB Center, 144 Wyoming Ave., Building 14003, and the Solvang Center at 320 Alisal Road, Suite 305.

The Alumni Scholars Association and the Central Coast Cal Alumni Chapter in invite San Luis Obispo high school students to attend a free workshop on applying to UC Berkeley for the fall of 2008.

The workshop will take place Saturday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon. at the San Luis Obispo City County Library's conference room.

The library is located at 995 Palm Street in San Luis Obispo.

High school juniors and seniors with hearing loss are invited to enter the third annual Rochester Institute of Technology writing contests.

Winners will have their choice of a scholarship and travel expenses to the Explore Your Future programs at RIT's National Technical Institute for the Deaf or a $500 cash prize.

The Allan Hancock College Literary Arts Journal, Harvest, is seeking submissions from current and former students, staff and faculty for its 2008 edition.

Severely handicapped students from six classes in the Santa Maria-Bonita School District will join with community partners from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday for their 13th annual fundraising Bowl-a-Thon at Rancho Bowl.

The younger students will bowl between 9 and 10 a.m.; fourth, fifth and sixth grade students from 10 to 11:30 a.m.; and junior high special education students from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
