The ex-wife of murder victim Jarrod Davidson was set for release from prison Friday after serving time for her involvement in the case.
Kelee Davidson, of Oceano, was sentenced in February 2006 to four years in prison after pleading guilty to being an accessory after the fact to Davidson's murder, and for perjury, for lying to a grand jury about her parents' involvement.
Davidson was scheduled to be released from the California Institution for Women in Corona on Friday, said Santa Barbara County Senior Deputy District Attorney Darryl Perlin.
With additional jail time before her sentencing, she earned enough credits to meet her required prison sentence, Perlin said.
Davidson will spend three years on parole, he said, during which she may not see her 6-year-old daughter unless she gets an order from family law court.
Jarrod Davidson, a 27-year-old UCSB graduate student, was fatally shot with a hunting rifle on the doorstep of his Goleta Valley apartment on July 2004. Kelee Davidson's father, Philip Jones of Grover Beach, pleaded guilty in December 2005 to committing first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, but died in May of lung cancer at California Medical Facility in Vacaville.
Malinda Jones of Grover Beach, mother of Kelee Davidson and wife of Philip Jones, was convicted of the same charges as her husband for her role in the killing and is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.
A court document filed on behalf of Philip Jones in early 2006 claimed that the crime was committed because the victim molested his daughter with Kelee Davidson. Jarrod Davidson was never arrested or charged with any crime.
