NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS CALLING FOR BIDS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District of Santa Barbara County, California, acting by and through its Board of Trustees, hereinafter referred to as the District, will receive up to, but not later than, 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, sealed bids for the award of a contract for the Righetti High School Relocation of 8 Portables, Bid Number 06-010.

All bids shall be made and presented on a form furnished by the District. Bids shall be received in the Business Office of the District at 2560 Skyway Drive, Santa Maria, CA 93455-1528, and shall be opened and publicly read aloud at the above-stated time and place.

There shall NOT be a mandatory job walk. Bidders are encouraged to visit the site by appointment only by contacting the Plant Manager at (805) 922-1305 ext. 5275.

Each bid must conform with and be responsive to the contract documents, copies of which may be obtained after April 11, 2007, from WESTBERG + WHITE, Inc., 719 S. The District has obtained from the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations the general prevailing rate of per diem wages applicable to this work as set forth in the schedule, including holiday and overtime work and employer payments for health and welfare, pension, vacation and similar purposes. Copies of schedules of rates so determined are on file at the Business Office and are available to any interested party upon request. In accordance with Section 1773.2 of the California Labor Code, the Contractor shall post a copy of the determination of prevailing rate of wages at each job site. The schedule of per diem wages is based upon a working day of eight (8) hours. The rate for holiday and overtime work shall be at time and one-half. The Contractor and any subcontractor(s) shall pay not less than the specified prevailing rates of wages to all workers employed by them in the execution of the contract.

This Project is subject to a Labor Compliance Program (LCP) approved by the California Department of Industrial Relations. Under the Labor Compliance Program, the District is required to monitor, audit, and investigate the practices of CONTRACTOR, and any subcontractor on the project, concerning payment of prevailing wage, maintenance of proper payroll records, and observation of apprenticeship requirements under the Labor Code, as further described in the Contract Documents.

Each bidder shall possess at the time this contract is awarded a Class B contractor's license pursuant to Public Contract Code Section 3300. The successful bidder must maintain the license throughout the duration of this contract.

No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for the opening of bids. The District reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive irregularities in any bid.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lucia Mar Unified School District (hereinafter referred to as “Owner”) will receive up to, but no later than 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, sealed bids for the award of:

BID PROPOSAL NO. 04543-B AND NO. 06591-B

ARROYO GRANDE HIGH SCHOOL- TENNIS COURT and RENOVATION PHASE 3

Bids Shall be made on the forms furnished by the Owner. Bid Documents may be obtained from the Facilities Department 321 West Cherry Street- Arroyo Grande, CA for a refundable deposit of $150.00. Please contact Anne Peterson at (805) 474-3000 Ext. 1032 for more information, including availability of the Bid Documents and mailing costs. Bids shall be opened and publicly read aloud at the above-stated time. Faxed Bid Documents will not be accepted.

SPECIAL NOTES: This bid proposal requires attendance at the following pre-bid conference where a site-walk will be conducted: Monday, April 9, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Facilities Office- 321 West Cherry Street- Arroyo Grande, CA 93420.

Bids must be accompanied by cash, a certified check or cashier’s check, or a Bid Bond in favor of the Owner in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the submitted Total Bid Price. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance bond and a Payment Bond, each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the Total Bid Price, as stated in the Bid Documents. Contractor shall comply with PCC 4108 with respect to subcontractor bond requirements.

Pursuant to B&P 7028.15 and PCC 3300, Contractors shall possess the following California Contractor’s license(s) in order to perform the Work: General Contractor- Class B. Subcontractors must possess the appropriated licenses for each specialty subcontracted. Bidders are advised that this Contract is a public work for purposes of the California Labor Code, which requires payment of prevailing wages. Owner has obtained from the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations the general prevailing rates, and will place them on file at the Owner’s office and make then available to any interested party upon request. Pursuant to PCC 22300, the successful Contractor may substitute securities equivalent to monies withheld by the Owner.

In accordance with Education Code Section 17076.11 the Owner has a DVBE participation goal of at least three percent (3%) per year of the required state funds. Bidders are encouraged to seek and include DVBE participation. Prior to, and as a condition precedent for, final payment under this Contract, the contractor will be required to provide documentation to the Owner identifying the amount paid to DVBE’s in conjunction with this Contract.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bid, and to be the sole judge of the merits of the respective Bids received. No bidder may withdraw his/her bid for a period of sixty (60)days after the date set for the opening of bids.
