A Santa Maria man was injured Thursday when his 1991 Chevrolet S-10 pickup tipped on its side following a collision at Broadway and El Camino Street. German Padilla, 18, was headed westbound on El Camino and was stopped at the Broadway intersection just after 1 p.m., according to Santa Maria police. He reportedly pulled into the intersection and into the path of Christian Delgadillo, 22, of Santa Maria, who was driving his 2006 Chrysler 300 northbound on Broadway. The front bumper of Delgadillo's car collided with the left side of Padilla's truck, and the truck rolled onto its passenger side and slid. Fire department personnel used the Jaws of Life to remove Padilla from his truck. He was taken to Marian Medical Center for treatment of lacerations above his right eye and on the left portion of his lower back. Delgadillo was not injured in the collision, which is under investigation by police.
