Matt Costa has performed with Jack Johnson, Built to Spill, Lou Barrow, Pinback and James Mercer from the Shins. / Contibuted

Matt Costa and special guest Satisfaction will perform beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday at Downtown Brewing Co., 1119 Garden St. in San Luis Obispo. Satisfaction will open the show.

Vocalist and guitarist Costa, 23, will feature tracks from “Songs We Sing,” his most recent release. The album is a winding collection, running the stylistic and historic gamut of pop music, with hues of ragtime, folk, psychedelia and rock, according to a recent press release from event organizers.

“Songs We Sing” recalls a time when America was under the spell of such British imports as Donovan and Van Morrison.

Costa has performed with a variety of artists including Built to Spill, Lou Barrow, Pinback and James Mercer from the Shins, according to the release.

A 2005 summer tour with label mate Jack Johnson opened Costa’s eyes to the rigors of touring, and a follow-up at the 2006 Coachella Music Festival was the icing on the cake, according to the press release.

The concert will be for adults 18 and older. A full bar is available for people 21 and older.

General admission tickets ($15 plus ticket service charge in advance; and $18 at the door) are on sale now at all Central Coast VALLITIX locations including Boo Boo Records in San Luis Obispo and Grover Beach, the Mustang Ticket Office on the Cal Poly campus, at the California MidState Fair Box Office in Paso Robles and at the UCSB Box Office on the UCSB Campus in Santa Barbara.
