SANTA BARBARA - Dos Pueblos quarterback Conner Rehage put on an aerial show, throwing four touchdown passes as the Chargers defeated Righetti 27-13 Friday night at Valley Stadium.
Rehage had a hand in all but one of the Charger points, racking up 287 yards passing and throwing for touchdowns of 31, 58, 33 and 42 yards. He also passed for a two-point conversion.
Dos Pueblos won its third straight game after a winless season in 2005, upping its record to 3-1. Righetti saw its three game winning streak snapped, dropping to 3-2.
The Dos Pueblos victory was tempered by the Chargers' star running back, Brad Ebner, being taken off the field by ambulance with 7:06 left in the game. Ebner, believed to have suffered a concussion, was reportedly unconscious but breathing on his own when taken from the field. He was accompanied to a local hospital by his coach Jeff Uyesaka and the school's athletic director Dan Choi.
Ebner had had 12 carries for 69 yards -- well below his 150 yards per game average -- when the injury occurred. He had just picked up 15 yards and was jogging off the field when he collapsed in front of the Dos Pueblos bench. Play was held up 10 minutes while he was cared for by paramedics.
Otherwise it was all Rehage. He put the Chargers on the scoreboard twice in the first stanza, hitting Derek Martinez on a 31 yard pass play with less than 5 minutes gone. About three minutes, later, he threw a 58 yard pass to Shane Micheel who outran the Warriors down the right sideline.
Rehage passed to Troy Shotwell for a two point conversion making the score 14-0, before the Warriors barely got started, going three and out and losing the ball on an interception on their first three possessions.
On Dos Pueblos' next possession Righetti had a ray of hope when Rehage was intercepted for only the second time this season by K.C. Sarellano on the Chargers' 28-yard line. The Warriors made it to the 2-yard line when a dead ball foul backed them up 15 yards. Righetti then tried a field goal which was blocked.
Dos Pueblos made it 20-0 in the third quarter on a 33 yard Rehage to Micheel pass.
Righetti then had its longest drive of the night, 16 plays, before Kyle Leon scored on a 1 yard plunge with 2:26 left in the third quarter. The score was set up by a 20-yard Adam Wilson to Todd Noel shovel pass which took the ball to the 1 yard line..
After Ebner's injury, Rehage was able to rouse the stunned Chargers with a 42-yard pass to Isaac Munoz for a touchdown with 4:07 left in the game.
Righetti completed the scoring on a 4-yard pass from Wilson to Jeremy Conway with 1:31 left. Martin Luque made the extra point to make the final score 27-13.
Wilson was 13 for 28 in passing for 95 yards, with one interception, and added 61 yards on the ground. Leon had 56 yards on 16 carries.
Ebner was the game's top ball carrier before his injury but the Chargers only had 112 yards on the ground -- Friday night it was all Rehage.
Santa Ynez 30, Templeton 27
Austin Bartoo missed an extra point that would have put Santa Ynez ahead at 28-27.
He made up for it by drilling a 23-yard field goal for the game winner at Templeton in a Los Padres League opener. The Pirates (3-1-0 overall) gave the Eagles (3-1-0) their first loss this year.
Bartoo's field goal capped a Santa Ynez fourth quarter comeback from 27-14 down.
Chase Yost helped the Pirates with a 19-yard interception return for a touchdown. He also scored on a 5-yard run to tie the game at 27-27, then Bartoo missed the extra point try.
Jimmy McCaffrey gained 77 yards on 12 carries for Templeton. Jake Fitzgerald threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jake Fitzgerald, but the Pirates intercepted four passes.

Both teams are 4-1-0.
Atascadero's other scores came on Jake West's 31-yard field goal and Jespersen's 29-yard pass to Brandon Roberts. Michael Reynoso, a top area rusher, gained 156 yards on 23 carries.
